ABOUT DAL NIENTE

MISSION
Dal Niente New Music, NFP (dal niente) is dedicated to promoting contemporary concert music by established and emerging composers through public performance, recording and collaborative projects.



HISTORY
dal niente was founded in 2004 by composer Kirsten Broberg and has since established itself as one of Chicago's leading new music organizations in programming revolutionary, ambitious and virtuosic contemporary music. The name dal niente, Italian for from nothing, references the title of the revolutionary and virtuosic piece, Dal niente (Interieur III) for clarinet (1970) by German composer Helmut Lachenman.


dal niente is made up of 25 soloists, virtuosic performers and rising specialists in contemporary music. dal niente's recent guest artists have included leaders in contemporary music such as composer Alvin Lucier, grammy-nominated soprano, Tony Arnold, and eighth blackbird's violinist, Matt Albert. dal niente has performed recently at festivals such as Sonic Impact
at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and the Sound Field New and Experimental Music Festival.



dal niente, Italian for "from nothing," is a Chicago-based, not-for-profit organization that is bringing
today's most revolutionary, ambitious and virtuosic contemporary concert music to the forefront.

I took the above mentioned from their website. I attended an intimate concert held this past Saturday. I'm not well versed in this style of music but none the less, I certainly enjoyed it.
