An estimated 29 million people watched American Idol on Wednesday night. Numbers are slightly down from last year but still rule TV. No other show came close to viewership. American Idol is so strong that commercial ads are running for $750 thousand for a 30 sec time slot. The ads are $1 million in May's season finale.
American Idol is such a goldmine that the show made $810 in ad revenue alone for the 2007 season. That doesn't sound like a show in decline. This is a true American Culture Phenomenon.
