Kelly Ms. Clarkson If Your Nasty!

So Kelly finally released her much critically panned album "My December." Kelly co-wrote the entire album and decided not to hire the heavy weight producers that helped her make "Breakaway" one of the biggest selling albums of 2006. Certified at 6 million sold, Kelly has the pressure of an equal follow up. She decided to take a risk and her label hated the album. There were many rumors that Clive Davis even offered her $10 million to add five songs from the heavy weight producers. She declined and went forward with releasing her first single "Never Again," which reached number eight on billboard top 100 and was top ten in digital sales. The angry tune was labled a flop but in reality was a certified hit. It may not have had the heavy radio airplay that "Since You Been Gone" had but definitely a hit in comparison to others. The CD is filled with raw emotion in her lyrics and voice but unfortunately the songs lack hooks that are needed to get radio play. The emotional "Sober" is her next single and sure to put Kelly back on top. The other fuck you song "Judas" is sure to strike a cord with those recently dumped. "How I Feel" and "Haunted" are the other potential radio friendly songs. All in all it is a good CD lyrically, but the public and radio may not like it. It may be too pop to be rock and too rock to be pop. I think people are accustomed Ms. Clarkson as a wholesome southern girl and to hear the angry bitch on the radio, may be too confusion for the mass media.

My ass would've taken the $10 million and would sing Zip a Dee Doo Da if Clive wanted me to. I applaud Kelly for her artistry and think she can at least sell a million records and start recording a new one for late 08.

My Rating: B-
